Formalities completed for Jammu university: Official

Minister for Higher Education Jammu & Kashmir Abdul Gani Malik on Friday said controversy that erupted in the wake of appointment of Vice Chancellor of Central University, Jammu has stalled the institution to take off.

He said the Government of India has been requested to expedite the appointment of Vice Chancellor so that the institution starts functioning adding that the same was must for the institution to begin academic work.

Responding to the point raised by National Panthers Party member Harsh Dev Singh in the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir, the minister said that the land has been already made available for the prestigious institution and other formalities stand completed already as well.

Earlier, the legislator expressed concern over delay in coming up of the Jammu Central University. He said Central Universities have already come up in other parts of the country.
