Shammi Kapoor turns 79 Today
The true entertainer of ?Bollywood?, Shammi Kapoor turns 79 on Thursday and if media reports are true he will once again be seen on the big screen in Imitiaz Ali?s ?Rockstar?.
The movie will be all the more special for Shammi?s fans as Ranbir Kapoor, the latest star from the Kapoor clan, is also a part of the project.
Shammi Kapoor was seen shooting along with his grandson Ranbir by beating the scorching heat of the summer season, earlier this year, reports said.
So, it will be interesting to see how the Kapoor pair of Ranbir and Shammi creates the magic at the box office when the movie finally hits the big screen, specially after the senior ‘Kapoor’ is returning back to the world of films after a long break.
The film has been directed by Imtiaz Ali and the music has been composed by A.R. Rahman, reports said.
The veteran actor of Bollywood, Shammi Kapoor, who is celebrating his birthday on Thursday, started his unforgettable journey in B-town from the movie ?Jeevan Jyoti? in 1953.
But with films like ?Tumsa Nahin Dekha? and ?Dil Deke Dekho?, he established himself as a light hearted, stylish actor.
But in an interview to IBNS, Kapoor said that to him the most unforgettable film is ?Teesri Manzil?.
?I will never forget Teesri Manzil?it was during the shooting of the film, I suffered the saddest moment of my life?I lost my wife (Geeta Bali) in 1965. I was shattered, but had to continue shooting,? he said.
?She was there before Teesri Manzil?s shooting started?she was very happy that I was offered the film. She said she wants to see my contribution in the film. I could not digest that fact that she was no longer there,?he mentioned.
Shammi Kapoor considers that legendary singer Mohd. Rafi was his voice and he lost his voice once he passed away: ?Rafisaab was my voice?after his death, I lost my voice?I cried like hell. He had a great sense of humour.?
A very interesting fact about Shammi Kapoor is that, he is one of the oldest users of internet in India and he regularly uses popular social networking sites like ?facebook?,?Twitter? and others.
?I discovered Internet before you got Internet in India. You got in 1995?VSNL. I took it up as a hobby. I am on Apple and they gave us a website called eWorld. The British telecom gave us a line through VSNL, even though VSNL was not available at that time (1994). That was an eye-opener?something completely new. And by the time Internet came to India, we were already first-marchers?already sab kuch dekh liya tha,? he said in an interview to IBNS.
He also feels that internet is one of the best medium to connect and communicate with friends.
Truly, Shammi Kapoor is an all-rounder, from acting to internet, he knows each of it perfectly and perhaps it is this perfection and skill that make him so much popular to his fans.
