‘Thaandavam’ raises Rs.20 lakh for National Association of Blind

Vikram-starrer Tamil film “Thaandavam” helped raise Rs.20 lakh for the National Association of Blind (NAB) through its premiere show donor passes.

The sold-out premiere was held here Thursday at the Sathyam Cinema complex. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, the film sees Vikram as a RAW agent who becomes blind after an accident. His character is inspired by Daniel Kish, a human echo-location expert.

“We would like to thank UTV for associating for a noble cause. We are glad to inform that the entire amount will go towards the benefit of NAB. If more and more corporates can start contributing to social causes through their vast array of films, it will go a long way to expand their activities and support more number of people,” said A. Nina Reddy, president NAB in Tamil Nadu, in a statement.

Daniel, who also plays a cameo in the film, will associate with NAB to conduct training programmes and seminars.

An action-thriller, “Thaandavam” is directed by A.L. Vijay who has also roped in Jagapati Babu, Anushka Shetty, Amy Jackson, Lakshmi Rai, Santhanam and Nasser.

This is Vijay’s second film with Vikram.

“The premiere was a sold out event and we are happy that we are able to contribute to a noble cause through our film. The buzz of the film has been stupendous and the packed house premiere goes on to show the expectations audiences are putting on us,” said G. Dhananjayan, Chief – South Business, Studios, Disney UTV.
