ED takes Adnan Sami’s properties in India

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Indian watchdog of foreign exchange regulation, has seized at least eight properties and five parking spaces acquired by Pakistani singer Adnan Sami under the Foreign Exchange Management Act

The ED also clamped a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the singer as being a Pakistan national, as he was not allowed to acquire properties in India, media reports said Monday.

The ED officials said that in 2003, the actor-singer had acquired eight immovable properties along with five parking spaces at Oberoi Sky Garden housing society in Lokhandwala, Andheri, Maharastra, for an estimated cost of Rs 2.53 crore.

Recently on a legal suit Sabah Sami, the estranged wife of Adnan Sami, was allowed to access the two flats in Oberoi Garden flat at Andheri.

A division bench of Mumbai High Court comprising justice BH Marlapalle and justice UD Salvi on Wednesday admitted the appeal filed by Sabah challenging the order of a single judge, which restrained her from entering these two flats.

But nothing is known immediately if those flats come under the ED’s seizure.

Adnan Sami Khan, popularly known as Adnan Sami, is a British-born singer-actor-composer of Pakistan origin. He currently holds Canadian citizenship and lives in Mumbai.
