Glimpses of Contemporary Iranian Cinema at IFFI

Panaji : Iranian Cinema was brimming with creative impulses this year, making International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to select a handful of films with high aesthetics and heartrending content.

The Festival tries to give glimpses of the creative energy of 10 prominent film makers from Iran in the Package “Glimpses of Contemporary Iranian Cinema”.

The Films to be showcased in the Package are: Digari (The Other) by Mehdi Rahmani, Third Floor by Bijan Mirbagheri, Iraq, the Evening of the 10th Day by Mojtaba Raie, Shab-E-Vaghe’E (The Fateful Night) by Sharram Asadi, The First Stone by Ebhrahim Forouzesh, The Day Goes and Night Comes by Omid Bonakar & Keivan, There is Nothing Behind the Door by Shabnam Orfinejad, Tehroun by Nader T Homayoun, Please Do Not Disturb by Mohsen Abdolvahab.

To represent the package at the Festival will be present 4 leading Directors Shahram Asadi, Mojtaba Raie, Nader T Homayoun and Nastaran Kheirandsih, and the lead actor of The First Stone, Mohsen Tanabandeh and its producer Alireza Sabt-Ahmadi.

Post-revolutionary Iranian cinema has been praised at many international forums and has been recognized at various Festivals. Iranian Cinema’s distinct style, themes, authors, idea of nationhood, and manifestation of culture has attracted international audiences to it.
