41 HIV kids to fly to North Bengal

Kolkata : Forty-one children with HIV will be flying from Kolkata to Bagdogra in North Bengal this World AIDS Day (Dec 1).

The Bajoria Charitable Foundation and non-governmental organization (NGO) OFFER are organizing an event- Gift me a sky- on Wednesday to fly 41 HIV affected children from Kolkata to Bagdogra on a Jet Airways flight.

Gift me a sky is an initiative to give HIV affected children from ?Anando Ghar? a day filled with fun and adventure, music and poetry, joy and happiness at Bagdogra with host of celebrities including, actress Pallabi Chatterjee, reciter Bratati Bandhyapadhay, singer Rupankar, painter Samir Aich, comedian Mir, reciter duo Jagannath Basu and Urmimala Basu, Sudeshna Roy, Arpita Ghosh, music director Sebojyoti Misra, footballer Prasun Banerjee and cricketer Sambaran Banerjee.

Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, minister of state for health Dinesh Trivedi, and Surya Kanta Mishra, honourable minister of health (Panchayat and Rural development), would be present to support the endeavour, Dr. Subhasish Bhattachrjee-Head of Paediatric HIV, Calcutta Medical College, Namit Bajoria of Bajoria Charitable Trust and Kallol Ghosh founder secretary of OFFER will also be present at the occasion.

Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome, commonly known as AIDS is one of the overly stigmatized diseases in the world. The people or children suffering from the disease are almost always segregated from the society, as well as their near & dear ones for fear of contraction with a hiv calculator.

According to the statistics children with HIV/AIDS, there are about 3,300 Children Living with HIV/AIDS (CLHIV) in West Bengal itself, with 6 out of every 554 street children being HIV positive as NICED, Government of India pointed out.
