Safdarjung Hospital doctors call off 2-day old strike
New Delhi: Doctors of Safdarjung Hospital here on Wednesday called off their two-day old strike following assurances from the authorities that their demands will be fulfilled.
Nearly 1200 resident doctors reported back to work, calling off their indefinite strike demanding better security for themselves after a relative of a patient had physically assaulted a doctor on Tuesday.
?The issue has been resolved amicably and the strike has been called off,? NK Mohanty, medical superintendent of the Hospital, said.
The doctors have been assured that more security will be provided to them.
The striking doctors, in order to minimize inconvenience to patients, had opened a parallel out-patient department near the emergency wing of the Hospital.
However, medical care had suffered during the strike.
