Aarushi: All accused let off, parents appalled

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said they are closing the Aarushi Talwar murder case citing lack of evidence and letting all the accused walk away as the girl’s parents clamour for justice.

The closure report of the unsolved case was filed at the Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) court by the CBI, since they could not find sufficient evidence to ?nail? the culprit despite two years of investigation.

?The CBI has filed a closure report in the Aarushi Talwar murder case as it could not get sufficient evidence to nail anyone. The closure report is filed in Ghaziabad court,? said a CBI spokesperson.

Caught by news channels, Rajesh Talwar, father of the murdered 14-year-old, said, “We are completely devastated, completely shocked. Don’t know what to do.”

The case was pending for more than two years now, and the CBI had changed the investigation team several times since then.

The new team was from Lucknow, which declared that crucial evidences were lost and tampered with.

Even the vaginal swab of Aarushi was not hers and the post-mortem report was also manipulated.

All the accused were let off after CBI admitted that they had no evidences against them.

“We had asked for a touch DNA test but we don’t know why it was not done or what happened to our proposal. It can crack the case,” said Rajesh Talwar.

A relatively new new analysis, ‘touch’ DNA test has been hailed as offering new hope in cold investigations and refers to extracting samples from only a few cells left behind by a person who briefly touched an object, such as clothing.

“We are still cooperating, I still don’t know why I wont get justice for my daughter, someone does this to my daughter,” Talwar said on Monday night.

The Talwar family said they will continue their fight for justice.

“We will consult our lawyer. (If) the killer is roaming free still, then this country is unsafe for living,” the father said.

?We will not let it go. We will fight till the end,” Nupur Talwar, Aarushi’s mother said.

She said the Talwars will consult their legal counsel and come up with possible actions.

“Justice for my child is only purpose of our existence today,” she said.

On May 17, 2008, 14-year-old Aarushi?s body was found in her bedroom of her Jal Vayu Vihar apartment in Noida. Her throat was slit. The very next day the family?s domestic help Hemraj too was killed. His body was found on the terrace of the building.

On May 23, Aarushi’s dentist father Rajesh Talwar was arrested.
