Closure of CBI case against former IG Haryana police

Supreme Court should take sue-motto cognizance of CBI court accepting closure report filed by CBI in infamous Ruchika Girotra suicide case, where the main accused was all-powerful former Inspector General of Haryana Police.

Significantly political rulers from all parties/alliances had patronised the said police-officer in his service-tenure.

Sudden withdrawal of case by family of Ruchika Girotra creates doubt about pressures from high-ups on the family.

In interest of justice, courts should not accept closure-reports in cases involving highly powerful persons as accused without a deep study of the matter. However if some monetary settlement is done for withdrawal of cases by victims and/or their families, it should be brought on record through court-orders.
