Conference of chief justices

It is surprising that two-day conference of Chief Justices of Supreme Court and High Courts followed by conference of Chief Justices with states? Chief Ministers did not touch burning issues concerning higher judiciary like recent recommendations from Law Commission. Even aspects like declaration of wealth and assets of judges and their families, misconduct and corruption in judiciary, and bills for accountability and appointments in higher judiciary should have been discussed at length especially because otherwise conduct-code for judges restricts them to express their views in public.

It was unnecessary to spend time and money on discussed aspect of long pending court-cases, which could even be taken care of through correspondence. Even drawbacks in judicial system like frequent adjournments as main cause of delayed court-cases could not gain any significance in the high-profile conference.
