Heavy rains in Kerala results in landslide, at least 13 die

Kerala : Landslide due to incessant rainfall in Idukki district of Kerala claimed at least 13 lives on Monday, while continuous rains in other areas of the province added to the woes of the people.

Many are still feared to be trapped under the debris; after a landslide was triggered by heavy downpour in the state.

The rescue operation was hampered due to the blockage of roads by rubble of landslide. Devasahayam, a resident of Ernakulam district of Kerala expressed her grief and said that all their belongings were swept away by flood water.

Some roads in the state have been closed due to the mudslide and several educational institutions were closed due to the heavy rains.
