Nation celebrates Eid

As the people sights Shawwal moon a day before, Muslims across the nation celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the festival commemorating the end of the holy month of Ramadan on Friday.

The day marks an end to a month long fast from consuming liquids and food, and partaking in sexual activity, from sunrise to sunset. Muslim families and communities gather to celebrate with prayers, feasts and festivals.

People of all ages crowded markets where colourful Eid stalls had been set up offering special clothes and sweets. Head Imam (chief cleric) of Jama Masjid (mosque), Abdul Bukhari declared that the moon was sighted.
