Rewards for info on Samjhauta suspects

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced cash rewards upto Rs 22 lakh for any information that would help track down three prime suspects in the Samjhauta Express bomb blast in 2007.

The NIA announcement comes a day after Pakistan officially sought progress report on the bomb blast in the Samjhauta Express in Feb 2007, which killed 68 people.

Rewards of Rs 10 lakh has been announced for locating Sandeep Dange, Ramchandra Kalsangra and Ashok, who are allegedly involved in the blast.

While another Rs. 10 lakh each will be given for information leading to the arrest of Dange and Kalsangra, Rs. 2 lakh is for any person providing information leading to the arrest of Ashok.

Pakistan on Monday, asked India for a progress report on investigations into the Samjhauta Express blasts, in which 42 Pakistanis were among those killed.

The report was sought in the wake of news reports in the Indian media about jailed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, Swami Aseemanand, admitting to his role in the Feb 19 blasts.

Acting Deputy High Commissioner of India G.V. Srinivas, was summoned to the Foreign Office by Director-General (South Asia) Afrasiab to be told that a response from New Delhi should be conveyed at the earliest.
