Tanu Weds Manu – Review

The boy, manu (R.Madhavan) is an NRI,who leads a simple life, goes to work everyday and misses the hint of romance in his life. He longs for a faithful partner and his prayers? get fulfilled when he goes on a girl hunting spree, in an attempt to nail down? his potential wife and give his parents the ideal bahu.

Now enters, tanu (Kangana Ranaut),a delhi university graduate ,whose daring ,young, vivacious and full of life. Her choice of guys is quite terrible( railway contractor..!!) and her parents are in an hurry to get her settled in a suitable household. But watching her wild ways, the family has a roller- coaster ride and loads of ups and downs to face, before she? finally gets settled.

Manu is not her kind of guy, and predictabley, she refuses to marry him. But its not what you see in all hindi films.. Manu can?t take the girl out of his head. He tries hard, but all his attempts fail as the two unexpectedly meet at different situations only to pick up from where they left.

There is a villain too, the good old boyfriend( Jimmy Shergill) ?of tanu, who is a goon in Kanpur and killing people is the only way out of problems for him.

As the story unfolds, one realise that indeed marriages are no more made in heaven and one has to struggle really hard to find them on earth…!!! Madhavan plays his part beautifully, as he combines the simplicity, shyness and coyness of a man who does not know the rules of love but quite unknowingly falls for a girl who is totally opposite to him. Meanwhile Kangana, fails miserably to get the fun and bindass attitude of a Kanpuria girl.

Set against the backdrop of Kanpur, ?the director has succesfully got the language and diction of the people right. The supporting cast is also very good. With some great oneliners and punches, the film makes one smile and laugh as well…!!

The music is not great, only the track ?saddi gali? stands out and is foot tapping. Sometimes the songs pop up too early, making it difficult for the audiences? to concentrate on the screenplay.

Go watch it, its worth every bit of your money…!!!!!
