UP: Girl set on fire after rape attempt by villager

Jalaun  : A teenage girl in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh died in hospital allegedly after being set on fire by a villager, who had attempted to rape her first.

The incident took place at Nipniya village of Sirsa Kalan area in Jalaun district on Tuesday evening in the fields where she went to attend nature’s call.

Police, however, suspected the incident to be a case of suicide. The assistant superintendent of police in the region, Rakesh Shankar, said that the girl was believed to be in a relationship with the accused and committed suicide after being spotted with him by her brother.
