Venkaiah Naidu says BJP unrelenting on JPC demand

Stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not go back on its demand for a JPC probe into the 2G Spectrum allocation scam, former BJP president Venkaiah Naidu on Monday put the onus of running the Parliament on the government.

?Functioning of the Parliament depends on the government,? Naidu said here.

Refusing to accept criticism that the Opposition did not allow the Parliament to function during the Winter Session, Naidu said, ?Our (Opposition) cooperation depends on your (government?s) operation.?

Naidu also slammed Union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee over his comment that those who didn?t allow the House to function should join the Maoists.

?Mukherjee must look within himself before accusing others. Everyone knows with whom the Congress? ally from West Bengal has ties with,? Naidu said, in an apparent reference to Railway minister Mamata Banerjee?s Trinamool Congress? alleged links with the Left-wing extremists.

?It is for everyone to see how the Congress came to power in Andhra Pradesh and Assam with the help of extremist elements,? he added.

The entire Winter Session of the Parliament was washed away as the combined Opposition remained unrelenting on its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G scam, which the government refused to concede.
