Women Helpline 181 fails to ‘help’

New Deli  : The brutal gang-rape of a 23 year old paramedical student in the national capital and her subsequent death under treatment in Singapore has sparked a wave of frenzy all across the nation, with the Government left no choice but to react and take steps.

One of them, the much promoted, Government’s lifeline, the Chief Minister’s ‘181’ toll-free helpline for women, failed to see the light of day this morning, owing to technical glitches.

The helpline number to be operated out of at the Central Secretariat in New Delhi, is now expected to launch at 6 pm later today.
