Osama Bin Laden diary reveals terror plots

Slain al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden?s journal was giving US authorities a deep insight into the international terrorist?s plans and plenty of information of future terror plots, reports said on Thursday.

The dairy, that also showed that bin Laden was communicating with other terrorist chiefs, details on the al Qaeda?s doctrine, potential targets and methods to carry out attacks against the US including on the country?s rail network, officials said on condition of anonymity.

Officials believe that the journal, which was recovered by US commandos after the 40-minute operation in Pakistan?s Abbottabad on May 2 that left the terror chief dead, was written personally by bin Laden.

Meanwhile the Obama administration dismissed demands by a group of lawmakers and other public figures that the US should stop aid to Pakistan in the aftermath of the killing of bin Laden deep within country which hinted links between the al Qaeda chief and Pakistani authorities.

?They are legitimate concerns. But we believe that our counter-terrorism cooperation and our assistance to Pakistan is in the long-term national security interests of the United States, as well as in the long-term interests of building a stronger, more prosperous and more democratic Pakistan,? State Department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters.

?I think we go to the Pakistanis, which we’ve done and we say, you know, these are our concerns, and you need to address them in a a clear and coherent way,? Toner said, suggesting that the aid would maintain the leverage U.S. has on Pakistan.
