Pakistan defeat Kenya by 205 runs
Hambantota : Kenya?s hope for qualifying into the next round of World Cup 2011 received a severe blow on Wednesday as they were defeated by Pakistan by 205 runs at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.
Batting first Pakistan piled up a massive total of 317 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their quota of 50 overs against a weak Kenyan bowling.
Pakistan had the worst possible start to the innings as both the openers got out quickly.
The former world champions lost their first wicket at a score of 11 runs as Mohammad Hafeez (9) got out to Otieno.
Soon the other opener, Ahmed Shehzad (1) followed him as he was dismissed by experienced Kenyan pace bowler Odoyo.
Since then the Pakistani batsmen handled the situation well and helped their side compile a good total against the minnows.
Umar Akmal remained the pick of the Pakistani batsmen with 71 runs.
Other batsmen like Kamran Akmal (55), Younis Khan (50) and Misbah-ul-Haq (65) contributed well with the willow.
Chasing 318 for victory the Kenyans could only reach a score of 112 runs.
Shahid Afridi picked up 5 wickets to ensure that his side win the match quite comfortably in the end.
Collins Obuya remained the top of the Kenyan batsmen as he scored 47 runs with his willow.
Umar Akmal was declared the ?Man of the Match? in the end.
