Jewels light up Kolkata Couture Fashion Week 2010

Kolkata : The third day of the Kolkata Couture Fashion Week 2010 witnessed a pompous closure to a daylong celebration with the theme ?Occasions? featuring oodles of glittery jewellery.

Gitanjali Lifestyle, the title sponsors for the event, celebrated the day with opening of their 50th jewellery store here in the city.

The theme of the showcase was a transition that a woman has at various stages of life, and used these stages of life to display the jewellery through a fashion show.

The stages of celebration and jewellery-buying occasions, was incorporated in the creations of ace designer Wendell Rodricks with white gowns and dazzling Gitanjali jewellery connoting love.

In the second showcase Wendell chose to present the jewellery with short green and gold designs.

The day ended with a grand finale showcase by Archanna Kocchar showcasing her extravagant couture bridal collection ?Utsav?.

It was a celebration of saturated Indian colors like bright Rani pink, Kumkum red, emerald green, Jamun and Gulmohur orange.

The m?lange of textural fabrics like crushed Georgette, Luxe Jamevar, textured velvets and luminous were transformed into elaborate kali saris, classic lehengas, sensual cholis, fluid dupattas.

Former Miss World Diana Hayden walked the ramp as the showstopper.

The fashion show saw plenty of entertainment with dance performances on Bollywood tunes and the evening witnessed a one and a half hour entertainment sequence and jewellery showcase.
