Kingfisher Calendar to be shot in Mauritius

Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority all set to host Kingfisher Calendar shoot contingent for the year 2011, said officials here on Friday.
This would be for the second time that the destination Mauritius gets re-associated with Kingfisher calendar shoot after a gap of eight years, when the first kingfisher calendar was shot at the island.

“Mauritius association with the calendar shoot highlights the island’s growing appeal with the Indian fashion and lifestyle segments. Association with calendar shoot for the year 2011 reiterates existing association with fashion, lifestyle and glamour,” said a Kingfisher spokesperson. Ace photographer Atul Kasbekar will be leading the Kingsfisher Calendar shoot contingent to Mauritius.

The shoot will be taking place in the East Coast of Mauritius at Le Touessork being the hospitality partner associating with this high-profile shoot. Also expected to be present during the course of the calendar shoot in Mauritius will be United Breweries Chairman Vijay Mallya. Mauritius Tourism board director Karl Mootoosamy said, “This shoot offers a high caliber platform for Mauritius to showcase best of island offerings, picturesque landscape and hospitality. Our brand association will further help us to augment destination recall in the elite circles in India.” Sharing his views on the proposed Kingfisher Calendar for the Year 2011, Vijay Mallya said, “For the connoisseurs of photography and style, the Kingfisher Calendar showcases some of the best visual talent in India. ‘Expect the Unexpected’ with this calendar, last year we had images with reef sharks and a model in a Malcolm lagoon.

“You never know what surprises there will be in store. The inaugural edition of the calendar was shot in Mauritius. Our project photographer, Atul Kasbekar has often said that the island has the best ‘light’ in the world. I tend to agree.” Photographer Atul Kasbekar said exotic landscape, fantastic light and very comfy humidity levels make it easier to do shooting outdoor all day in the island.

“Haven’t shot in Mauritius for about five years now but done that a lot prior. Hoping I get new areas to explore. Shades of Mykonos with its white walls and the intense blues in the sky. All I need are the bronzed bodies,” said Kasbekar.
