Indonesia warns BlackBerry of ban if it beams porno
Jakarta, Sep 1 : Indonesia has warned Canadian firm Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry, to stay away from showing pornographic pictures in smart phone or face ban in the country.
The ultimatum comes on a day when the multinational company acceded to the Indian government’s requirement of monitoring email service in that country.
Communication and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring said on Tuesday if the foreign firm refused to clear the Indonesian government’s apprehension on stopping beaming adult pictures on smart phones then his ministry would prevent the company from working here, news agency Xinhua said quoting newspaper reports.
“If it (RIM and BlackBerry) still does not respond to our request, we have to close it down,” the minister was quoted as saying.
The pornographic site on the Internet has been banned under Anti-Pornographic Law of 2008.
