AITA: Jennifer Luikham, a Haryana girl beats Andhra Pradesh
Kolkata : Third seed Jennifer Luikham of Haryana played some superb tennis to reach the final of the girls’ singles under-12 at AITA junior tennis championship, being played at red clay court of Shambazar Tennis Club here on Thursday.
The Haryana girl came from behind to defeat D Lalita of Andhra Pradesh 3-6,6-3,7-6(7-4). She was down 1-5 in the decider. From
there she won in tie break.
She will meet fourth seed Nidhi Surapaneni of Andhra Pradesh.
The boys? doubles u-14 title went to second seeded Sanil Jagtiani of West Bengal and Eklavya Singh of Jharkhand.
The duo defeated Avilash Mishra of Orissa and Nishant Kumar of Bihar 6-4,6-2.
This win has put Sanil in line for a double crown as he is slated to play the boys? singles u-12 final on Saturday.
Others in line for a double crown are Parikshit Somani of Assam and Jennifer Luikham of Haryana. Nidhi Surapaneni of Andhra Pradesh
could win a triple crown.
The boys? singles u-12 final will be played between top seed Parikshit Somani of Assam and third seed Sanil Jagtiani of West Bengal. Sanil beat second seeded Avilash Mishra of Orissa 6-3,6-0.
