Assam Football and Mohun Bagan ink MoU

Kolkata : The Assam Football Association (AFA) on Thursday singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mohun Bagan seeking promotion of soccer in the state.

The MoU was inked between AFA’s secretary Ankur Dutta and Bagan’s general secretary Anjan Kumar Mitra at Mohun Bagan tent in front of the media.

The MoU would help in the overall growth and development of football in the state of Assam, Dutta, who is also All India Football Federation’s vice-president, said.

He said the club culture is in early stage in Assam and any footballer can not think to eke out by playing soccer alone.

He said the glamour of Mohun Bagan would surely attract new footballers to devote more time in this game.

Mitra said the club would secure assistance from the former players and coaches of its academy in Durgapur to help development of the game in the northeast.

The MoU is the first of its kind between a club and a state federation.
