Chhattisgarh seeks Haryana’s help for labourers’ release
The Chhattisgarh government Monday sought Haryana’s help to secure release of several poor people forcibly being made to work at a brick kiln in Haryana’s Ambala district, official sources said.
The issue of several workers’ families belonging to Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district kept as bonded labourers in Haryana and being assaulted routinely by a brick kiln owner at Firozpur village came to notice when a few workers who had managed to escape informed Chief Minister Raman Singh during his meet-the-public programme here and sought his intervention.
“On instruction of Raman Singh, Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar Monday contacted the high authorities in Haryana government and sought its early intervention for the immediate and safe release of labourers from Chhattisgarh,” an official source told IANS.
The source said the Haryana government assured Chhattisgarh chief secretary that it would take action against those have forcibly held Chhattisgarh workers and assaulted them. The Haryana government has also assured of securing the workers release and sending them back to their home state at the earliest.
