Student commits suicide after killing girlfriend

Raipur : An engineering student from Chhattisgarh’s industrial town Bhilai Saturday killed himself by jumping in front of a running train in Maharashtra, a day after he murdered his girlfriend, police said.

Amit Kumar, enrolled in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Institute of Technology, jumped in front of a running train in Bhandara, eastern Maharashtra. His suicide came a day after Chhattisgarh Police registered a case against him for killing his girl friend Neha Sahu, a second year MCA student at Rungta College in Bhilai, Durg district police chief O.P. Pal told newsmen.

A police team has left for Bhandara to bring Amit’s body back to Bhilai town, some 30 km from here.

Police say they are investigating why Amit murdered Neha and then killed himself.
