Curfew relaxed in parts of Srinagar

Srinagar : Curfew was relaxed in Srinagar on Tuesday, while the Jammu & Kashmir Police claimed the situation across the Valley remains ?normal?.

?Situation across Valley at this hour continues to remain normal and under control. Authorities have completely lifted curfew restrictions from District Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, and Awantipora, area in south Kashmir, and from Baramulla, Handwara, and Bandipora areas in north Kashmir, similarly, from district Budgam in Central Kashmir,? said the police in a statement.

Meanwhile, curfew restrictions in Kupwara town, Trehgam, Kralpora and Kupwara town, were relaxed from 9 am to 2pm and later up to 4pm.

In Kangan and Ganderbal, restrictions were relaxed from 11 am to 1 pm, which were later extended upto 5 pm.

Similarly, from East, West and South Zones of City Srinagar, curfew restrictions were relaxed from 3:30 pm onwards respectively, while from North, and Hazratbal Zones, it was relaxed from 4:30 pm onwards.

However, curfew restrictions only continue in Srinagar city, Ganderbal, Kangan, and Sopore town.

In Kupwara town, Trehgam and Kralpora areas of district Kupwara Curfew was relaxed from 9 am to 2pm.

?There have been no reports of any untoward incident from any where,? the police said.

However, earlier the day, some miscreants blocked the road and resorted to heavy stone pelting on security forces at Seelu area of Sopore.

?One miscreant namely Riyaz Ahmad Naikoo suffered minor injuries while security forces were trying to bring the situation under control,? then police said.

He was discharged after first aid from hospital. Traffic was restored on the road.

?Situation is now normal and under control,? the police added.

At least 108 people were killed in anti-India protests led by the separatists in Kashmir since June 11, prompting the Centre to initiate talks with the various groups in the state, propose greater autonomy and depute an all-party delegation to the Valley.
