Omar Abdullah calls on P Chidambaram
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday called on Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and apprised the latest law and order situation arising out of proposed Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “Ekta March” in the state on the Republic Day.
The BJP has planned to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk on Jan 26, which has evoked lot of tension in the Kashmir Valley.
The J&K government was not willing to allow the march into the state for precautionary measure.
“I have given my assessment of the law and order situation regarding the 26th and the BJP’s ‘ekta yatra’,” Omar said after emerging out of the Home department office here.
Refusing to elaborate on the meeting, the J&K CM said whatever he had to say he said to the Home Minister about the law and order situation.
He said Jan 26 and Aug 15 are very important dates and the state government will keep in touch with the Union Home Ministry.
