PDP patron to discuss Kashmir with Home Ministry

The Union Home Ministry has called former Home Minister of India and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Syed to New Delhi to discuss how to prevent revival of last summer-like agitation in Jammu and Kashmir and also sort out some sensitive issues like repercussion of the Amnesty International Report pertaining to the state, recommendations made by interlocutors and the ongoing Indi-Pak talks.

Sources told IBNS that Syed right now is in New Delhi and is taking part in deliberations on finding ways to ensure that last summer-like situation doesn?t reoccur in the Valley this year.

According to reports, the Home Ministry is intending to discuss issues like of Amnesty International Report and the on-going Indo-Pak talks with the old hand politician.

Sources said that before implementing any of the recommendations made by interlocutors, the Home Ministry wants to take the PDP patron into confidence.

Sources further revealed that Mufti Mohammad Syed is likely to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and will discuss vital and sensitive issues pertaining to the trouble-torn state with them.

While talking to IBNS, PDP spokesman Nayeem Akhter said that he doesn?t know the whereabouts of Mufti and he has no information in this regard.
