Faizan Rafiq, a Kashmiri teenager arrested on the charges of stone pelting under Public Safety Act, has been handed over to parents by Kathua Jail Authorties on Tuesday after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah intervened.

Police said the boy was handed over to his father Mohammad Rafiq after fulfilling all the formalities, though Deputy Inspector Genaral of Police, South Kashmir, Shafkat Watali said that he has so far no information about this.

?He (Faizan) might have been handed over to his parents as was due but I have not received so far any information in this regard,” DIG South Kashmir told IBNS.

His release was ordered by the state government Monday evening following the intervention of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Faizan, who is just 14, was arrested on charges of stone throwing from Anantang in February this year.
