Mumbai man arrested for “abetting” suicide of wife

A man in Mumbai was arrested for allegedly harassing his wife for dowry and abetting her suicide with two children by jumping from a multi-storied building on March 8.

Thirty-year-old Nidhi Gupta jumped to death from the 19th floor of the building in Malad after throwing off her two children Gaurav (6) and Mayanka (3).

The woman’s father had lodged complaints of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide against her husband Pawan Gupta and family.

The tragedy occurred a day before the couple’s wedding anniversary. They were married for ten years.

Nidhi Gupta, who was a professor and a chartered accountant, had left behind a suicide note blaming none.
