Mumbai on high alert on festival day

Mumbai : Mumbai, the financial capital of India which became the target of terrorists repeatedly, is on high alert on Saturday on the occasion of Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi after reports of two terrorists’ entry into the megapolis.

The Mumbai Police on Friday said two suspected terrorists have entered the commercial capital to cause ?disruption? during the festive season.

Releasing photographs of the duo, Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Himanshu Roy told reporters, ?Both of them are of foreign origin. We believe they have entered the city to cause disruption at religious congregations and crowded places.”

“The two people are Kalimuddin Khan aka Rameshwar Pandit and Hafiz Sharif.?

“Should they be spotted then please inform nearest police station or 100 or on special helpline numbers 022-22633333/22625020,” Roy added.

Meanwhile, Home Ministry sources said one of the duo is a Pakistani with links with banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the other is a Bangladeshi having connection with Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJi)

Over 43,000 police personnel have been deployed across Mumbai. Vigilance has been increased at railway stations; guesthouses and hotels have been asked to increase security and maintain proper records of their guests.
