Mamata Banerjee visits injured in Kolkata hospital
Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Sunday visited the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata to enquire about the eight seriously injured villagers of Lalgarh admitted there.
Eight villagers of Nitai in Lalgarh in West Midnapore were killed and around 18 wounded in a firing blamed on Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) armed cadres on Friday.
“I had come to ensure that the serious patients get proper treatment. The very serious like Arati Mondal should get better treatment. I wanted her to be transferred to ICCU,” said Mamata after visiting the hospital and meeting its medical superintendent.
“Serious patients should get better treatment,” she said.
On Saturday Mamata said the ruling communists had tried to create another Nandigram in West Bengal’s Lalgarh on Friday.
Likening the carnage of Friday with the Nandigram firing of 2007 when villagers were killed, she said: “The incident was preplanned. The CPI-M wanted a recurrence of Nandigram in Lalgarh.”
