MMRMC lead in Ruia Gold Cup in National Bridge

Kolkata : Unfancied and city-based ?MMRMC? held the centre stage grabbing pole position after two sessions of the pre-quarter final league for Ruia Gold Cup in the 52nd Winter National Bridge Championship at Netaji Indoor Stadium here Monday.

?MMRMC? represented by P K Bera, Swapan Ghosh, W P Kaviraj, Sambhunath Ghosh, Biswajit Poddar and Satyabrata Mukherjee, have so far gathered 45 Victory Points (VPs).

They are followed by another Kolkata-based team ?Maharaja B? with 44.93 VPs and team ?Sunil Machhar? of Mumabi with 44.48 VPs.

First two day?s leader ?Formidables? from Delhi and champions Railways are at the moment at the 6th and 7th spot collecting 43.96 and 43.33 VPs respectively. They are preceded by Shree Cement of Kolkata ( 44.07 VPs) and last year?s runners up Dhampur Sugar Mill from Delhi ( 44.04 VPs).

While a total of three sessions would be played on Monday night, three more sessions of the pre quarter finals would be held on Tuesday.

Out of the 24 teams now playing in the pre-quarter finals, top eight teams would move to the last eight stage to be played from Wednesday. From quarter final stage, the competition would be held in knock-out basis.

Meanwhile for Rui Silver Cup, another underrated team ?Konnagar? from Hooghly led the groove with 78.31 VPs and are followed by team ?H M Chatterjee? ( 72.35 VPs), team ?Loknath Bhattacharjee” with 71.67 VPs.

Sunday?s leader ?Chinchak? from Kolkata failed to live up to the expectation and have relegated to fourth position with 68.25VPs.

Otrher leading teams in Ruia Silver cup are Bandhab Samity ( 60VPs), A K Upadhyay of Uttar Pradesh ( 57.35), SAIL Ispat (57.08), M B Sirkar (53), ?Dehradoon? from Uttarkhand (49.31VPs) and BARC from Mumabi (44.71).
