Mamata Banerjee flags off first AC metro train

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday flagged off the first air-conditioned (AC) train of Metro Railway in Kolkata.

She also launched the Metro Services from Kavi Nazrul to Kavi Subhash Station in Kolkata and formally inaugurated the station at a function at Kavi Subhash Metro Rail Station. .

With the Metro rail service being extended to Kavi Subhash Station, the total distance between Dum Dum and Metro would be 25 KMs and there would be 23 stations in between.

The Railway Minister in her speech described the extension as the gift of ?Sharad? (Autumn) festival for the Metro users and the people of Kolkata.

She urged all concerned to keep it clean and maintain the Metro service properly.
