Minor raped in Bengal

Kolkata  :  A minor schoolgirl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, and the attacker has been arrested, police said Monday.

“We arrested Mukhtar Mollah today (Monday) for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl (on Sunday). A medical test has been conducted on the victim and we are awaiting the report,” investigating officer Parthasarathi Pal said.

The attack took place late Sunday night in Dankuni town in Hooghly district, some 20 km from Kolkata. Mollah forcibly picked up the girl, who was wandering in the vicinity of her house, and took her to his house.

According to the complaint filed by the girl’s family, Mollah raped her during the night and later left her in an unconscious state outside her house.

“Following the details given by the victim, we arrested Mollah today and will seek his custody from the court,” Pal added.
