Minor, woman raped and killed in Bengal

Kolkata  : In two different cases of suspected rape and murder, the bodies of a minor girl and a mentally-challenged woman were Sunday recovered in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, police said.

In the first incident, the body of a 15-year-old girl was found lying near a water body in Basirhat in the district, with the family of the victim alleging that she was raped before being murdered.

“We have sent the body for post-mortem and only after the report can we say if she was raped before being murdered,” said an officer of Basirhat police station.

The girl has been missing since Saturday.

The naked body of the middle-aged woman was discovered from an under-construction building in Bongaon in the district.

“The victim was mentally-challenged and her nude body was discovered by workers at the construction site who informed us. It seems she was raped before being killed,” said an officer.
