Staff face punishment after jail-break

Siliguri (West Bengal) : The Siliguri jail authorities on Wednesday suspended a warden and served a show cause notice to another, holding them responsible for jail break of four undertrials on Sunday.

Siliguri Special Correctional Home’s Superintendent T R Bhutia said warden Dipak Roy has been put under suspension, and head warden Wridoy Chandra Rai was served the show cause notice.

Four prisoners- Aakash Gurung (33), of Nagrakata, Raju Das (37), of Mohit Nagar of Jalpaiguri, Aanarul Hawk (20) of Ramganj in North Dinajpur and Matrika Uprety, (28) of Jhapa in Nepal fled after breaking the iron-window of the jail at Subash Pally.

They were arrested under the NDPS act (related to the peddling of narcotic substance ) last year.
