AUS vs Can : Australia defeat Canada by 7 wickets

In a group level clash, current world champions Australia thrashed Canada by seven wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.

Batting first, Canada posed a total of 211 runs for the loss of all wickets.

H Patel played a well crafted innings of 54 runs against the mighty Aussie bowlers.

He hit five boundaries and three over-boundaries in the match giving the audience a much deserved chance to see a good fight between the bat and the ball in an otherwise one sided game.

Z E Surkari (34) and A Bagai (39) made handsome contributions with their willow.

Chasing the total of 212 for victory Australia reached the winning run in just 34.5 overs.

Australia scored 212 runs for the loss of three wickets with both the openers, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson clicking well with their bats.

Brad Haddin (88) and Shane Watson (94) gave Australia a solid start to the match.

It looked at a time that both the players will drive their side to the winning target before Haddin got out to Davison at the score of 183.

Soon Watson followed him, as the Australian score card showed 185 for the loss of 2 wickets.

Skipper Ricky Ponting failed to contribute with the bat as he scored only seven runs before losing his wicket to Osinde.

Michael Clarke (16*) and Cameron White (4*) ensured that Australia had a smooth end to the match without any further loss of wicket.

Skipper Ricky Pointing said at the end of the match: ?Things went not too bad, their top four or five batted really well, but our batsmen were outstanding.?

Speaking on his failure to score big runs in this match, he said: ?You could say I am due, would have been nice to be not out, but may be I am saving it up for the big games.”

He also said that Australia is looking forward to the match against Pakistan in Colombo where he feels his team will face good amount of challenge from the opposition.

?We haven’t fully been tested yet, we will be by Pakistan in Colombo and we look forward to it,? he said.

Shane Watson was declared the ?Man of the Match? at the end of the game.
