Congress to adopt anti-RSS resolution

The Congress is likely to come out with a resolution on the second day of the party’s 83rd plenary session on Sunday, linking the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) to terror activities.

The measure, to be taken for the first time against the RSS, has been on the card after the party decided to hit back the saffron brigade following the furore over the WikiLeaks report on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s stand on Hindu radical groups.

According to an NDTV report, the Congress resolution is expected to ask the government to investigate RSS-terror links.

The proposed resolution will accuse the BJP of double standards, referring to Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and will attack Pakistan for its inaction against 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks suspect.

The party will omit reference to Hindu terror. They will also call for probity in public life, media reports said.

That the Congress would go for counter offensive to wriggle out of the controversies over 2G Specturm Scam and the latest WikilLeaks claim was evident when Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said the Congress was prepared to unmask the BJP.

“We have lots to celebrate. We are celebrating our existence. We are exposing the BJP’s doubt standards and scams,” Khurshid was quoted by media as saying.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are both expected to address the session.

The Congress has also decided to rake up the Babri Masjid issue, by attackikng the BJP for demolition of the shrine.

During the two-day meet, the party will also prepare draft criticising Pakistan-sponsored terrorism while the Jammu and Kashmir situation is also expected to come up for discussion.

Party general secretary Digvijay Singh had demanded on Saturday a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the killing of Sunil Joshi, an RSS activist linked to Ajmer Dargah blasts of 2007, alleging that Joshi was killed because he “knew too much”.

?It is extremely intriguing that the Madhya Pradesh government headed by the BJP refused to probe against him at that time,? he said, adding that Joshi knew too much but the case was closed citing insufficient evidence.

Meanwhile, besides the issue of right wing terrorism, the draft resolutions at the plenary is likely to adopt that Congress is the only pan-India national party with pan-India.
