Royal Challengers batsman Virat Kohli said the convincing eight-wicket win has boosted their confidence for the this crucial match, in which the loser will be knocked out of the tournament.

Kohli asserted that the win has certainly given Bangalore the edge over the defending champions.

“Following Sunday win we are high on confidence. We will be positive and in a good frame of mind. It does give us an advantage,” said Kohli.

The middle-order batsman admitted that it was West Indian opener Gayle, who turned the tables for Royal Challengers, who were once on the bottom of the table.

“Gayle’s arrival has been very positive for the team. It has made a big difference. He has brought a positive energy in the team. But others have also done well. Bowlers bowled well and our fielding has improved too. But yes, Gayle has made a big difference,” he said.

Gayle, who has 511 runs from just nine games including two centuries and five man-of-the-match awards, said he was surprised with his performance.

“I didn’t expect to be here. I came in late and things have gone differently than I expected. Hopefully, we will finish it off in a similar way. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is an important day for us,” said Gayle, who is the highest run getter in the tournament.

“We are looking forward to the game against Chennai and expecting good things from the bowlers. We are peaking at the right time.”
