Shahid Afridi quits international cricket: Geo News

Shahid Afridi has announced retirement from international cricket late on Monday, according to Pakistan’s Geo News.

The channel quoting unnamed sources said Afridi?s decision was driven by his differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The report quoted him saying that “it was hard for him to play under a cricket board, which pays no respect to senior players.”

?I cannot work with the people who find it difficult to tolerate statements in favour of cricket,? he said, calling it his honour that Pakistan reached semifinal in the World Cup under his captaincy, the channel reported.

Afridi, who took Pakistan to the semifinal of the World Cup this year where it lost to India in a much-hyped encounter, started playing in 1996.

Till 2011, Afridi played 27 Tests, 325 One Day Internationals, and 43 Twenty20 Internataionals (T20Is). He made his ODI debut on 2 October 1996 against Kenya and his Test debut on 22 October 1998 against Australia.
