Trinamool ropes in Hot Mail Sabir Bhatia

Trust Trinamool Congress to pull out surprises ahead of their biggest poll battle against the communists in West Bengal. On Sunday they unveiled none other than Sabeer Bhatia, the co-founder of Hotmail email service.

At a press conference in Trinamool Congress, Sabeer Bhatia was the star attraction as Trinamool Congress showcased the IT wizard to drive home one point: the party is tech-savvy and will put Bengal on the fast track of technological development if elected to power in the April-May assembly elections.

Flanked by Trinamool stalwart Partha Chattopadhayay and quiz master-turned Trinamool leader Derek O’Brian, Bhatia in fact used the word “change”, a buzzword for the party to take on the ruling Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) since 1977.

Bhatia said the power of Internet has changed the world and the entire Middle East is undergoing revolution because of the power of information in the hands of the people.

“I am delighted to come here and share with your that we live in a time of enormous revolution. People here want to do something new and make a change,” he said.

“I have just come here to share some of my ideas,” he said.

Earlier, putting its youth-centric and corporate savvy face forward, Trinamool has drafted in two interns from Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIM-C), one of the top B-schools of the country.

IIM-C passouts Hariharan Sriram and Mansha Tandon, who have bagged cushy jobs already, are doing their “internships” with the party, as Trinamool, once seen as a party of shutdowns and street protests, reaps huge positive vibes from their presence from the young educated urban youths.
